Challenge Your Golf Game on the True Blue Golf Links

06 Apr 2018   |   By: Chauncey Smith

With over 80 golf courses available along the Grand Strand, it's no wonder why the Myrtle Beach area is known as the Golf Capital of the World. And with many of the area's best courses situated around Pawleys Island, there's no shortage of world-class links to test your game and delight golfers of all skill levels. If you're planning on playing a round or two during your upcoming vacation to Pawleys Island, don't miss the challenging layout presented by the course at True Blue!

Perennially named one of the top golf courses along the Grand Strand and featured on Golf Magazine's 2017 "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" list, True Blue has wowed golfers since its opening back in February 1998.

The course recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and two decades in, True Blue is as popular with Myrtle Beach golfers as ever.

The course layout was the brainchild of legendary golf architect Mike Strantz. After constructing Caledonia Fish and Golf Club in 1994 to rave reviews from players and golf writers, Strantz took aim at the adjacent property to sculpt an 18-hole course echoing aspects of Pinehurst #2 and Pine Valley.

However, True Blue is far from a copycat course, as the unique lowcountry landscape allowed for many one-of-a-kind aspects. Strantz heavily incorporated natural vegetation and coastal grasses around bunker areas to give the course that same "arrogantly shabby" feel that Pawleys Island is famous for.

Players and golf writers were so impressed with the design of True Blue that Strantz was named "Golf Architect of the Year" in 1998 by Golf World Magazine, and the course would be a prominent member of his impressive catalog of work.

Sadly, Strantz passed away in 2005 at the age of 50, but True Blue remains one of his crowning achievements and enjoying a round there is a great way to celebrate one of the brightest minds in golf course design.

With beautiful spring weather in full effect, now is the perfect time to enjoy a round or two at True Blue! Even better, with great deals like our Spring Into Savings special or AAA/AARP discounts, you can book a first-class Pawleys Island condo on-site at True Blue Resort or nearby at Litchfield Golf and Resort or Pawleys Plantation Resort. No matter which locale you choose, you're sure to enjoy an unforgettable trip to Pawleys Island at an unbeatable price! Plan your Pawleys Island vacation today and don't miss out on spring's best vacation dates!
